check out the new modern 111 Navy Chair from Emeco. The recognizable shape is a design classic, but these ones aren’t aluminum — they are made from 111 recycled pop bottles!! Emeco was approached by none other than Coca-Cola to come up with a terrific option for what to make with the millions of plastic bottles that are disposed of every year. They estimate a lot more than three million plastic bottles will be repurposed annually to make the 111 Navy Chairs.

I took a look at them at design Within reach on King street in Toronto. Although they’re a bit heavier than the standard aluminum Navy chairs, they feel terrific and are very comfortable. They are made in North Carolina, and they’re under $250 each.

They come in six colours: Charcoal, lawn Green, Persimmon, Flint Gray, Snow and, of course, Coca-Cola Red. (Available through DWR and select merchants across Canada.)
