Bright ideas for lighting

The white, flush-mount, saucer-shaped fixture currently shedding a dim light in my kitchen (I think you can picture this $20 fixture available at any big-box store) has got me dreaming of brighter days. So this week’s craving is a little bit of design heaven to me: a pendant light from the new York company niche Modern. Modernly elegant, and as much at home in a cottage as a city loft, these fixtures have been a favorite of mine (and to be honest, a handful of editors here at the mag) for a while.

My favourites are definitely the Stamen lamp in clear (above) or the Bell jar from the Crystal series (below) — this one truly makes me swoon.

I also love the way the light would warm the curvy base of the Trumpette table lamp (below).
